Cory Ortiz has always been a model student, citizen, and an excellent role model for student-athletes in this community.  He has been a product of Unit 5 schools attending Hudson Elementary, Kingsley Junior High, and Normal Community West High School.  Cory has been a standout student and athlete in Unit 5 leading by example in so many different ways.

On September 23, 2011, while facing Danville, Cory suffered a season ending elbow injury.  He has been through a number of surgeries to repair and reconstruct his elbow.  Through it all, Cory remains to be Cory.  He has had a great outlook about his future and his life.

The Normal West Football program has planned a flag football tournament fund raiser for Cory Ortiz to be held at Kingsley Junior High on Saturday, April 14, 2012.  All proceeds from the football tournament and activities will go to Cory’s family to help pay for his medical expenses.
