Approximately 20 people took part in the first West “Football 101” put on by the West Gridiron club this past Saturday 8/15. This was a unique insight into Wildcat Football presented by Coach Hess.
The session started off with a defensive position lesson with the common plays and play signals used by the Wildcats. Once the plays were explained most of the signals were quickly understood but a few did need further explanation.
Then the Offensive Coordinator Kevin Braucht gave a session on the most common offensive plays ran by the Wildcats. The participants learned what they will be seeing when the Wildcats have the ball. We all know the Wildcat’s will have possession most of the game!
The session ended with an overview of penalty calls signals and questions.
The Gridiron club would like to thank all the parents who helped organize the event and Denny’s donut for donating refreshments. A good start to the season and we are hoping this will become a normal Wildcat way to start the football season next year.
